DIGIS3 news: updates, initiatives, and technology opportunities

This week the “EDIH Network Annual Summit” was held in Brussels. An annual event that brings together representatives of all European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH), policy makers and public administrators to discuss innovation, technology and digitisation opportunities in Europe.

The GEOINCA Research Group participates in the DIGIS3 consortium to promote the Sustainable Digital Transformation of companies and administrative bodies in Castile y León.

On 16 May, representatives of the AIR Institute (DIGIS3 coordinating entity)and the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León -ICE- (partner DIGIS3), representing the entire consortium of DIGIS3entities, took part in the first meeting of national EDIHs.

On 10 May, DIHBU, a member of DIGIS3, attended the annual convention of the European DIH² network in Brussels, as a centre specialising in the application of industrial robotics solutions.

On 12 April, AIR Institute staff, as a member of DIGIS3, participated in the second part of the training session on "Managing Digital Innovation".

Garnica, dedicated to the transformation of wood, and Bosques y Ríos, focused on poplar plantation, will be provided with support in 3D technologies and the use of artificial intelligence for the monitoring of wooded areas. Geomatics and forestry engineers from the Dracones Research Group will provide this support within the framework of the DIGIS3 HUB consortium.

The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castile and Leon (ICE), partner of the Digital DIGIS3 consortium, is participating in Barcelona in the final event of the Smarty Project - Smart SMEs for Industry 4.0, together with its partners from Italy, United Kingdom, Slovenia, Poland, Finland, Belgium and other Spanish regions. 

This was the first session organised in Burgos as part of the technological dissemination and demonstration activities planned within the framework of the European Digital Innovation Centre DIGIS3, in which DIHBU participates as a partner, and KEYLAND SDG as an affiliated entity.

Directed by researcher Manuel Domínguez, from the ULE's Systems and Automation Engineering Department, it offers SMEs and organisations in Castile and Leon advice on digitisation and industrial cybersecurity and the application of machine learning techniques in those areas.

Last Monday, the Minister of Economy and Finance and President of the ICE – partner of the  DIGIS3 consortium-, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, presented the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Strategy (EEI 27), which will be the roadmap shared by the agents of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem that will guide the actions of the Institute in these matters in the coming years.
