DIGIS3, through its member DIHBU, took part in the 1st WASABI Open Call, a call for AI application pilots carried out by SMEs and Digital Innovation Hubs. The aim of this Open Call was to fund up to 10 pilot experiments involving AI-based digital assistants in which SMEs from the manufacturing sector participated.

The call represented a major opportunity to address advanced functionalities in the deployment of digital assistant solutions, for example human–machine interfaces for complex processes, AI-based conversational access to data across different thematic areas, or maintenance operations guided by a conversational assistant.

AI Mode Project

The project developed by DIHBU under this call is AI Mode, a prototype virtual assistant based on generative AI, designed to optimise training, maintenance and operational support in industrial environments. The system combines advanced language models, voice recognition and interactive visual responses, enabling operators to interact directly with the technology through voice commands, supported by a touchscreen interface. Thanks to its dockerised architecture, the assistant is scalable and easily replicable.

The AI Mode pilot application, which was successfully presented at the Industrial Track 4.0 Technical Sessions during the Burgos Industry 2025 Technology Meeting held last October, is currently being tested at Prohima Internacional for demonstration and validation purposes. Its results will be readily scalable to other manufacturing SMEs, thereby contributing to the digitalisation and efficiency of industrial processes. The project has a duration of 12 months, from 1 July 2025 to 1 July 2026.

Webinar to be held this Thursday

This Thursday, 26 February, a two-and-a-half-hour webinar will take place, featuring the 22 EDIHs that participated in the 1st WASABI Open Call, including DIGIS3 through DIHBU. Each EDIH will have a five-minute slot to present its project, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase AI Mode to other European Digital Innovation Hubs.
