The European Digital Innovation Hub DIGIS3, based in Castile and León, held the 2nd edition of the Horizonte Rural 5.0 Congress on 3 December, in collaboration with AIR Institute and the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca, at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of Béjar, with over a hundred participants in attendance.

The main objective of the event was to bring digital transformation closer to rural areas, while also promoting innovation, collaboration between organisations and technological development in rural settings. To this end, the organisers brought together renowned speakers and representatives from institutions such as the Network of Technology Centres of Castile and León (NODDO), the University of Salamanca, the provincial councils of Salamanca and Cáceres, the Candelario Town Council, AIR Institute, ICECYL, La Factoría Lúdica Hub, ITCL, CESEFOR, ITAGRA, AEICE, ADRISS, PRINCAL, COHABITARE and AVILAGRO.

The presentations and round-table discussions addressed various success stories linked to rural environments, innovation, technological services and the modernisation of local services, among other topics. In addition, La Factoría Lúdica Hub organised gamified networking activities to encourage the exchange of ideas, collaboration and the creation of synergies. As a result, the congress, which was held in person for the first time following last year’s online edition, represented a major opportunity to expand professional networks and deepen new digital skills for entrepreneurs, SMEs, companies and institutions.
