Salamanca Tech brings together leading experts in quantum computing with the collaboration of DIGIS3

Quantum computing is considered the technology of the future, with the potential to revolutionize various fields such as computing, economics, finance, medicine and cybersecurity, among many others. Salamanca Tech initiative, coordinated by AIR Institute, member of DIGIS3, together with the BISITE Research Group of the University of Salamanca and with the collaboration of Salamanca City Council, is holding the event "Quantum Technology" on Friday, October 27, which will bring together leading experts in this technology.

The new headquarters of AIR Institute, located at 39 Santiago Madrigal Avenue in the capital of Salamanca, will host the event starting at 10 a.m. with a welcome speech by the president of AIR Institute, Juan Manuel Corchado; the Councilor for Economic Development, Commerce, Markets and Youth, Pedro Martínez Córdoba, and the Vice Rector for Academic Planning of the University of Salamanca, David Díez Martín.

Attendees will be able to learn about quantum computing through two conferences and a roundtable. First, at 10:30 a.m., Pablo Cabricano, head of Quantum at NTT Data Spain, will speak about the practical applications of quantum computing. Half an hour later, Guillermo Rivas, an expert who recently joined the AIR Institute, will discuss the power of quantum technology in the world of finance. Afterwards, it will be time to share different points of view with the roundtable "Technology, Science and Engineering" in which, together with Juan Manuel Corchado as moderator and Pablo Cabricano, will participate the experts Vicente Matellán, General Director of the Castilla y León Supercomputing Center Foundation (SCAYLE) —member of DIGIS3—; Juan Ignacio Benito, RPA and Data manager at NTT Data; Kevin Corella, centers service leader for AI Project/Service Development & Quantum Machine Learning at NTT Data; Manuel Pino, postdoc at the Department of Fundamental Physics of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Salamanca, and Javier Parra, coordinator of the Quantum Economics & Technology Experience Lab and Professor at the University of Salamanca.

The event, in addition to being an opportunity to learn about the latest advances in quantum computing and understand the reasons why it is a strategic sector for multinationals, joins those organized in recent months under the Salamanca Tech brand dedicated to digital industry and smart tourism, technological innovation in the primary sector and the aeronautical industry as an engine for technological development.
