Great Success at the Digital Transformation Workshop for SMEs at Startup Olé

Article - DIGIS 3

This past Tuesday, October 8th, the Salamanca Conference Center became a key meeting point for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) aiming to adapt and thrive in the digital age.

As part of this major tech event, DIGIS3, through its member AIR Institute, conducted a free workshop titled "How can your SME thrive in the digital era?: Key technologies and effective strategies." This workshop was one of the opening events of Startup Olé and was a great success, attracting over a dozen companies and SMEs interested in digital transformation.

The afternoon kicked off with a presentation on the DIGIS3 project, highlighting the opportunities it offers to SMEs and entrepreneurs on their path to digitalization. Focusing on the potential of disruptive technologies, the speakers discussed the challenges faced by SMEs in today's environment and how they can overcome them by adopting emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and cloud computing.

The event was opened by David Franco, DIGIS3 project technician, who welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of digitalization in today’s business landscape. Later, Javier Galindo, project coordinator, presented the features and benefits of DIGIS3, stressing its role in enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs.

One of the key moments of the afternoon was the intervention of Raúl García and Lautaro Rossi, who addressed the "Current digital challenges for SMEs," followed by Javier Parra, Chief Scientist of the Economic Area at BISITE, University of Salamanca, who discussed "Enabling technologies for SMEs," providing practical insights on how these tools can be used to optimize processes and increase business efficiency.

Additionally, the event featured the collaboration of the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla and León (ICECYL), which presented the various funding lines available for R&D&I projects, sparking great interest among the attendees.

After the talks, there was a networking session and an interactive Q&A segment. During this time, participants exchanged ideas, delved deeper into the topics covered, established connections, and explored potential collaborations, fostering a stronger, more connected business community.

The workshop laid the foundation for future initiatives that will continue to support SMEs in their digital transformation journey. Backed by the DIGIS3 project and institutions such as ICECYL, continued growth in the use of digital technologies by businesses is expected, which will be key to their competitiveness in an increasingly globalized market.
